Week 32

Well it's been a crazy week, and I'm one step closer to sending pictures.... hahaha I forgot my card reader. I'M SORRY MOM!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you sir are officially one year older now, and the best part is, I'll be home to buy you vacuums and all kinds of exciting stuff next year! wee!

I LOVE YOU PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, my week...

So this past week there was a huge storm, including a tornado and a bunch of rain, and so as a zone, we went to help one of the wards in our stake that got hit the worst. We ended up in a house filled to my knees with water bringing in bricks to lift up their things so they wouldn't get wet,and moving things out of the kitchen, because the storm took the roof off of this house. It was crazy. We were out in the pouring rain trying to help a few families and we all as a zone ended up getting 10000% soaked, and we went walking through strong currants of flooded streets. It was crazy and sad and fun and very, very wet. I'll try my very hardest to remember my brain and my card reader with my camera next week so you can all see how crazy Paraguayan weather can be.

Also, it's been a pretty good week, because even though last week our main investigator didn't make it to church last Sunday, he did make it to church this Sunday, and our 3 investigators who came all stayed for all 3 hours!!!!!!!!!!! We're super excited! One of them is working hard on quitting smoking, and it's so exciting to see him changing and progressing with his efforts. He's pretty amazing! So yea, that was exciting.

Also, when we woke up this morning it was super super, super foggy, and I took pictures, but again, I'm a dork without a mind and forgot to bring my card reader, but anyway. You could hardly see the cow in our front yard haha. It's funny because there are actually cows in front of our house, and they were only visible amidst the fog. super cool! and cold too haha.

And yea, that's about all I've got for you lovely people today. I hope you all have a fantastically lovely week, I love you, I miss you and those of you who don't write me, (you know who you are)................ I forgot what I wanted to say hahaha. anyway! Ciao!

Week 31

Well, it's officially been another week. Crazy how fast the time passes.

So, this is the first time that I have had to stay in my area with a new companion, and it's been quite an interesting experience. I may or not have gotten us just a little bit lost the last few days. But it's ok, because I always manage to find my way out again, so I know the map better than I thought I did, but yea. it's been a different kind of learning experience.

This Sunday I was feeling kind of discouraged and a little down, so I decided to go searching in the scriptures that are connected to the sacrament song, so during the sacrament I read Mosiah 3:5-9, and by the end of the 3 hours I felt a lot better. It was a very spiritual Sunday for me. I shared that scripture with an investigator and ended up crying, haha wow! Me crying! haha but it was a super good lesson, if not for him or my companion, and least for me. My testimony of the Atonement grew this week, and I am recognizing the things that the Lord is helping me do, and how he is preparing me for more responsibility.

I'm very thankful for the Savior in my life, and for all that He has done for me, and for the chances that I have to share the knowledge I have of Him.

I'm sorry I'm lame and so preoccupied with not getting lost that I looked right at my camera and said, Imma bring that with me today, and then we left and my camera is seated hapily and certainly quite lonely on my desk. One day Imma remember to take and bring pictures so you can see what its like in Paraguay haha, probably when I'm headed home. :P

But anyway, don't forget how much Christ loves each one of you, whether you're sure He's there or not, I know He loves each and every one of us and He is always looking out for us, and He will always forgive us of our sins if we have the faith to ask for His forgiveness.

p.s. USA is totes gunna win against Portugal!!!!!!!!! go world cup! go Brasil! VIVE USA!!!!!!

p.p.s Everybody is going crazy about the world cup here too. It's pretty exciting. and there are people from all over, here within the mission, so somebody always wins and loses haha.

Week 30

Well people it's been yet another week down here in South America where the grass gets eaten by unclaimed cows and the roads are made of large rocks and sandy dirt.

Well I have some semi exciting news! We had changes finally, after 4.5 months together the day has come when I will have to say good bye to my beloved Hermana B. Yep, transfers, but you guys want to know something, I don't actually have transfers. I'm staying in Piro y again. It'll be my fourth change and 6 months in the same ward. So you know, just a third of my mission, no big deal. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! I'm already old in my mission! middle aged!!!!!!!!!!!!! My new companion is from Peru and I'll meet here on Wednesday!

We have been working with a kid whose name is Carlos, and he is super awesome. We have been helping him quit smoking, and he started with 35 cigarettes a day and now hes down to less than 15. So we're super excited for him! We're hoping he will be ready to be baptized in the coming weeks. Which makes me even more excited to be staying. Hopefully we will have some baptisms this transfer.
Anyway, I hope you all are doing wonderful, and I love you guys so much! Thank you all for your prayers and support! Stay awesome! and keep looking for those testimonies!

No pictures this week.  She forgot her card reader.

Week 28 !!!!!!

I won't mention the time, because it's still going as fast as always and well you guys already know it's going fast. haha
Anyway, hello and welcome to another episode of the life of Hermana Minks! Where I have goat friends, cow friends, and friends who sometimes still say Jesus is an alien, although not so much now. This week on the life of Hermana Minks went by much like many others, walking and running and eating haha. This week we got rained on, the one day when we didn't leave the house prepared. We left the house thinking, ah it's so nice out side, and it's not cold and its sunny and it's going to be a lovely day. And then.... 5:45pm the rains came down and the flood came up and the little sister missionaries ran for shelter in one of the member's houses. Where they made us hot chocolate and gave us plastic bags for our books and sent us off in search of somebody to let us in. Which is when we decided it'd be a good idea to go visit a part member, recent convert family and we ended up with a super purete (buenisimo) lesson with this couple. so that was the highlight.

Also, I've been thinking, it's been a while since I've shared my testimony, and since I don't have pictures this week, I just wanted to make sure you all know.

I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church of God on earth in this day and time and will remain until the day when Christ comes again. I also know that Jesus Christ suffered and died for me, so that I can repent and receive a remission of my sins along with each one of you and every other person that has lived is living or ever will live. I also know that there is a prophet on the earth today and that through the authority of God and revelation we can receive the direction that God has established for each one of us. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the living prophet. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, and that it is the word of God, and I know that because I have accepted the invitation that Moroni gives us in Moroni 10: 3-5. and I know that the promise contained in verse 5 is true and valid. If we ask God, he will reveal the truth of all things unto us through the Holy Spirit of God. I invite all of you who have not yet accepted that challenge, to do so. Read the Book of Mormon, meditate in your hearts the message it contains, and then ask of God, if it be true. I testify that it is. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

- Hermana Minks

No pictures this week :(.  She told me to Google Lindsey Stirling, and to tell the world.  I did, and she's awesome!  She is a returned missionary and an amazing musician and performer! So, World, consider yourself told.
